Senior Platform Engineer
A client within the EV charging technology industry runs an open platform that energy companies, retailers & parking operators across Europe use to add EV charging to their own services. Usage is growing fast, and they're looking for a senior platform engineer to put the platform on rails that scale: infrastructure-as-code, reliability, security & cost.
The platform runs on Azure, with App Service as the main runtime, Azure Data Explorer for operational data and Microsoft Fabric in places. Infrastructure-as-code hasn't been set up yet, so you'll build it from zero and decide what to codify first, what to leave alone and what to migrate. The company is ISO 27001 certified, and pen-tests & audits are part of the calendar. The team writes code with AI by default. You'll report to the CTO and work closely with backend & data engineers, security, customer support and the on-call rotation.
What you'll own:
- Build infrastructure-as-code from zero: pick the tooling (Bicep, OpenTofu or Pulumi), codify what runs today (App Service, Container Apps, networking, Key Vault, Service Bus, ADX, identity, storage) and put it behind a deployment pipeline the team uses without thinking about it
- Run production reliability: SLOs, observability, alerting, on-call rotation, incident response, and changing the system after incidents so the same thing doesn't happen twice
- Be the technical owner of security & compliance: identity, secrets, network segmentation, supply chain, secure SDLC, and the engineering response to pen-tests and ISO 27001 audits
- Ship product code in .NET / C# when the team needs another pair of hands (roughly 70% platform, 30% product)
- Own cost engineering: keep an eye on Azure spend, cut where it's safe and make sure new services have a sensible cost shape from day one
Requirements:
- 5-8 years in cloud platform, DevOps, SRE or platform engineering roles, including at least 3 years on Azure in production
- Experience setting up infrastructure-as-code from scratch in a small or mid-sized engineering org, without overshooting (no service mesh on day one for a small team)
- Strong with Azure: App Service, Container Apps, Service Bus or Event Hubs, Key Vault, networking, identity, and comfortable choosing between PaaS and containers based on what the workload needs
- Working knowledge of .NET and C# and willingness to ship in it. Another production language (Python, Go, TypeScript) is welcome
- Practical security knowledge: identity, secrets, network segmentation, supply chain, secure SDLC and handling external pen-tests & audits
- Using AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot or similar) by default in daily engineering, with the judgment to raise the bar on review to match
Bonus, not required:
- EV charging or energy domain: OCPP, OCPI, MQTT or telemetry pipelines at fleet scale
- Hands-on with ADX (KQL)
- Technical lead in ISO 27001 audits
Start: asap
Location: Helsinki, regular on-site presence expected
Language: English
Duration: 3-4 months initially
