Senior Platform Data Engineer (Databricks)

A B2B software company is building a multi-tenant data platform that handles large volumes of enterprise data. They're looking for a senior, hands-on Platform Data Engineer to build and evolve the platform, serving many isolated enterprise customers on the same system.

What you'll do:

• Design and build production data pipelines and platform capabilities from scratch
• Work hands-on with Databricks on Azure; data ingestion, catalog design, jobs, alerting, and declarative pipelines
• Build reusable, modular components rather than customer-specific one-offs
• Own infrastructure, deployment, permissions, monitoring, and the operational side of the platform
• Make practical architecture decisions, considering the multi-tenancy required for the various isolated enterprise customers.

We're looking for:

• 5+ years of senior data engineering experience, with clear examples of building pipelines from scratch
• Recent hands-on Databricks project experience, ideally within the last 12 months
• ADLS, Unity Catalog, Databricks Jobs & alerting, and declarative pipelines
• Strong Python and SQL, Git, automated testing, and software engineering practices
• Azure, Terraform or Bicep, and CI/CD
• Experience with multi-tenant architecture, permissions and workspace/catalog isolation
• Data validation, safe reprocessing, monitoring, and preventing cross-customer data contamination
• Understanding how architecture and operations need to change as a platform scales from a few customers to hundreds
• Cost awareness and taking ownership of the platform, not just individual pipelines
