Client: a leading industrial data platform vendor, delivering to a Norwegian offshore oil & gas operator. Delivery partner engagement — consultants work embedded in an agile, cross-functional squad alongside the vendor's and end customer's own people. Candidates may also be considered for other roles with the same client during autumn 2026.

The solution is a single, authoritative data and decision layer for emergency preparedness readiness, built on Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) with Flows as the user-facing application layer. It unifies fragmented source systems into one governed knowledge graph, giving real-time visibility into who is qualified, onboard and assigned to which emergency role, with full historical traceability and forward-looking planning. Delivery runs in three waves: operational foundation (training/exercise planning, attendance and debrief registration, competency tracking, reporting and audit), then deterministic rule engines and operational governance, then AI-driven automation, optimisation and proactive compliance. The Data Scientists own the intelligence and automation layer and the Flows UI across all three waves.

Part of the capacity also serves a flexible advisory and incubation squad: prototyping and validating emerging use cases at low cost, advising the end customer on getting value from the platform portfolio, and helping data engineers create simple solution data models in CDF.

What you will work on:

  • Build and configure deterministic rule sets to auto-generate emergency preparedness configurations and flag data shifts
  • Develop AI models and advanced rule logic for complex edge cases, rotation planning optimisation and proactive mitigation of competency expiries; leverage Atlas AI items and integrate rule engines with CDF's Data Quality Engine
  • Calibrate notification algorithms and rule thresholds to avoid notification fatigue while maintaining safety compliance
  • Build role-based, multi-device (mobile/tablet/desktop) UI applications in Flows for onshore and offshore use, including digital data capture forms for training participation, results and structured debriefs
  • Build historical traceability and forward-looking planning views
  • Spin up pilots using Flows, Canvas, Charts and Adaptive Experiences; run feedback loops with end users and subject matter experts

Must have:

  • Hands-on CDF, Flows or Atlas AI experience (fast-tracked by the client — but only list it if it is real project experience)
  • Strong Python, including production-grade deployment of data or ML solutions
  • Hands-on machine learning, statistics and/or optimisation
  • Experience building interactive dashboards or data-driven UIs (Grafana, Power BI, Plotly/Dash or similar)
  • Able to run use-case discovery workshops and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Degree in a quantitative field or in mechanical, systems, electrical or industrial engineering
  • Familiarity with graph data models and knowledge graphs SQL for data exploration and transformation

Nice to have:

  • SHACL/SPARQL or other rule-based validation/constraint frameworks on graph or RDF data GenAI, LLMs or agentic workflows applied to industrial or operational use cases
  • Domain expertise in oil & gas, offshore operations, emergency preparedness, competency management or asset performance management
  • Flows or TypeScript/React frontend development
  • Customer-facing or consulting experience, incl. leading workshops with senior stakeholders * Safety-critical or compliance-driven delivery environments
