Client: a leading industrial data platform vendor, delivering to a Norwegian offshore oil & gas operator. Delivery partner engagement — the consultant joins a flexible, cross-functional squad that prototypes, validates and delivers use cases on Cognite Data Fusion (CDF), working directly with end customer and vendor resources. Candidates may also be considered for other roles with the same client during autumn 2026.
The Data Engineer owns the data integration layer across one or more CDF engagements: reliable, production-grade pipelines connecting customer source systems to CDF, structuring data so it is usable, and applying the engineering practices that keep solutions maintainable.
What you will work on:
- Data Modeling & Enterprise Support
- Collaborate with Data Scientists to create dedicated solution data models in Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) for pilot solutions.
- Support the enterprise data model team with ETL and contextualization of data not yet in CDF.
- Pipeline Design & Data Ingestion
- Design and build event-driven and batch ingestion pipelines from HR, OT, QHSE, and other enterprise systems to CDF using Azure Event Hub extractors, CDF Transformations, and REST/APIM patterns.
- Implement data mapping and fail-closed validation logic.
- Author Data Product RuleSets and server-side validation via Cognite Functions.
- Build write-back patterns from CDF to external systems via APIM.
- Quality & Operations (DevOps)
- Set up CI/CD pipelines for integration and transformation code.
- Configure data quality checks, including asynchronous post-persist re-validation of the graph.
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Governance
- Collaborate with solution architects, data modeling leads, and Flows developers.
- Participate in sprint planning and reviews, flagging integration risks early.
- Support UAT, security and governance reviews, and go-live.
Must have:
- Hands-on CDF — extractors, Transformations, Functions or the CDF Python SDK (fast-tracked by the client — only list real project experience)
- Strong Python; production-grade delivery in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Hands-on ETL and data pipeline experience, ideally with a CI/CD platform such as Azure DevOps
- Event-driven integration patterns (Azure Event Hub, Kafka or equivalent)
- Strong SQL for transformation and query authoring REST APIs and cloud-managed services on Azure and/or GCP Data quality frameworks, validation logic and schema enforcement
- Understanding of graph data models and knowledge graph concepts
Nice to have:
- Microsoft Fabric or similar cloud data warehousing/lakehouse platforms SHACL/SPARQL or RDF-based data modelling
- Integrating HR, ERP, OT or QHSE enterprise systems
- Domain knowledge in oil & gas, manufacturing, power & utilities or other heavy-asset industries
- DevOps mindset: Git-based workflows, containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes), deployment environments
- Customer-facing or consulting experience; comfortable working directly with client source-system SMEs
