Lead Developer - Defence sector

A client in the defence sector is looking for an experienced C++/Qt Lead Software Developer to take technical responsibility for large-scale software systems and to support and guide other developers in their implementation.

Start: Decision during October + security clearance. Start end of November.

Duration: 1 year, extension possible

Languages: Finnish & English

Location: Onsite work in Jyväskylä a few days per month

Allocation: 100%

Requirements:

• Relevant degree (at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent)
• Strong software development experience with system-level programming languages (e.g., Java, Rust), with specialized expertise in C++ programming and the Qt framework
• Strong expertise in event-driven architectures for asynchronous real-time communication
• Practical experience with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, MQTT, NATS, or similar solutions
• Experience in documenting software architecture using structured methods, such as the C4 model
• Proficiency in interface design and specification (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger, Protocol Buffers, JSON schemas)
• The ability, vision, and confidence to make architectural decisions, justify them to various stakeholders, and guide software developers' work

Nice-to-have:

• Knowledge and experience especially in developing distributed software that processes real-time data streams
• Experience in the defense sector, particularly with electronic warfare technologies
• DevOps expertise
• Strong development expertise in Qt-based desktop applications
• Mentoring skills
