A software company within the enterprise SaaS domain is looking for a Data Platform Engineer to build and evolve the shared data platform used across their engineering organization. In this role, you'll combine hands-on data engineering with platform ownership, data architecture, and helping other teams build reliable data solutions on top of the platform.

What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain the shared Databricks data platform and infrastructure
  • Design and evolve the overarching data architecture
  • Build reliable, maintainable pipelines for processing and moving large datasets between systems
  • Own environments and cloud resources, including permissions, deployment patterns, security, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Establish common monitoring, data quality checks, and validation practices
  • Help other engineering teams onboard to the platform and design their data architecture and processing flows
  • Apply strong software engineering practices throughout, including Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and production-quality code
  • Troubleshoot data quality and integration issues and address root causes rather than symptoms

We're looking for:

  • Strong data engineering & ELT experience with pipelines written in code rather than managed or drag-and-drop tooling
  • Cloud data technologies, ideally Databricks & Azure Strong Python and SQL skills alongside distributed data processing like Spark
  • Experience designing data architecture and understanding end-to-end data movement across systems
  • Strong software engineering practices including version control, automated testing, and maintainable, reproducible code
  • Hands-on experience with agentic development
  • Experience taking ownership of platform health through monitoring, metrics, and long-term maintainability
  • Ability to gather requirements, explain technical trade-offs, and collaborate across engineering teams

Beneficial:

  • Experience building large-scale data platforms or data architectures
  • Experience with complex enterprise data domains
  • Infrastructure as Code and platform/environment ownership
  • Version-controlled transformations like dbt or broader semantic/data modeling experience
  • Familiarity with adjacent technologies like YAML or C#

Location: Helsinki, hybrid setup with a weekly team day at the office (more frequent onsite presence preferred during the first few weeks)
