The customer (a large Finnish company in the media industry), is implementing its updated data strategy through specific operational programs. The key objective of this project is to establish, map, and operationalize a practical Data Governance model across various domains (such as program data, operational data, customer data, and media delivery data). Instead of building heavy theoretical frameworks, the initiative focuses on driving actual business ownership, clarifying roles and responsibilities, mapping process flows, and creating actionable, small-scale successes iteratively. The client environment consists of multidisciplinary teams navigating a transition toward better data quality and AI readiness, requiring a pragmatic bridge between business operations, media processes, and technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Data Governance and Data Responsibilities program, taking ownership of its roadmap and implementation
  • Map and define business data ownership, domains, roles, responsibilities, and decision-making rights across different organizational units
  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment between business leads, domain managers, software architects, and data teams to foster acceptance and overcome organizational friction
  • Apply process modeling and enterprise architecture principles to map end-to-end data pipelines, capabilities, and data asset boundaries
  • Develop clear, lightweight governance documentation, visual diagrams, and concise executive summaries to communicate domain structures effectively
  • Pilot and validate the governance model in selected priority domains (e.g., internal data product areas or program data) to deliver immediate tangible value before expanding scope

Qualifications and technical skills:

  • Senior-level experience: Proven track record in leading organizational change, process mapping, or enterprise architecture initiatives in complex corporate environments
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business decision-makers; strong diplomacy and resilience to navigate change resistance
  • Enterprise Architecture & Process Modeling: Solid conceptual understanding of enterprise architecture (logical vs. physical levels), business capability mapping, data flows, and end-to-end process management
  • Data Governance Expertise: Pragmatic understanding of data governance, data ownership structures, data lineage, and data product management without relying strictly on rigid theoretical frameworks
  • Consultative & Visual Approach: Ability to synthesize complex organizational and technical structures into clear, visual one-pagers or short presentations
  • Industry Experience: General commercial, retail, or media domain background is helpful, though deep media industry expertise is not mandatory

Summary of the practicalities:

  • Project start time: ASAP
  • Project duration: 12 months (minimum target duration)
  • Allocation: 60%–100% (ideal allocation is around 80%–100%, offering flexibility for senior consultants with other commitments)
  • Location requirements: Hybrid model based in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area; requires physical presence on site around 1–2 days per week to foster team collaboration, with remote work allowed for the remainder
  • Language requirements: Finnish (proficient professional level for stakeholder management and internal communication)
  • Salary: +9000€ per month.
