A client within the pharmaceutical industry is building a centralized data catalogue and a unified data governance setup. Their data lake runs on Azure Databricks across multiple subscriptions, with reusable data sets in Bronze, Silver & Gold schemas, and it's integrated with Microsoft Purview and Unity Catalog.

The scope is to build, operationalize and visualize the catalogue using Purview together with Unity Catalog. The role sits between the technical setup and business adoption. You'll make the catalogue easy to use for non-technical business users (for example through Power BI), and manage access schemas, data lineage and metadata mapping under the lead of the client's internal MDM & Data Governance team.

Responsibilities:

• Develop the data catalogue in Microsoft Purview together with Databricks Unity Catalog across a multi-subscription Azure environment
• Establish and operationalize reusable data sets, schema access controls and data lineage across the Bronze/Silver/Gold layers
• Build business-friendly metadata discovery views by embedding Purview insights into Power BI and user-facing portals
• Collaborate with the people responsible for Master Data Management and Data Governance on data dictionary definitions, metadata tags and business glossaries
• Engage with business stakeholders to drive adoption, replacing complex technical portal paths with simpler cataloguing workflows

Qualifications and technical skills:

• Hands-on experience configuring and managing Microsoft Purview, including Data Map, Data Catalog, scanning and classification
• Solid knowledge of Databricks lakehouse architecture, Unity Catalog governance, metastores and multi-subscription environments
• Practical experience with layered Bronze/Silver/Gold data lake models and reusable dataset frameworks
• Experience embedding Purview metadata views into Power BI for business users
• Strong communication & stakeholder management skills
• Experience working with MDM or Data Governance teams, translating technical structures into terms the business understands

Start: Q4 2026

Duration: Initial contract for 3 months, with a high likelyhood to extend over multiple years.

Location: Some on-site to be expected at the client's premises in Helsinki.

Language: English, Finnish is a plus

Allocation: 80-100%
