AI Development Architect (Governance, Competence & Quality)

A client within the pharmaceutical industry is looking for an AI Development Architect to to help them adopt AI-assisted development in a way that fits their governance & compliance requirements.

The role focuses on setting up governance frameworks, defining technical guardrails for development, establishing quality assurance standards and building competence management models. You'll work as an embedded "in-house" advisor, aligning R&D innovation, vendor teams & internal IT with strict requirements for risk management, data classification and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Establish and refine AI, data & cloud development guidelines, for example ETL guidelines for AI-generated code, policies for agentic AI tool usage and GitHub Copilot frameworks
• Design governance models and risk evaluation processes for deploying AI technologies and non-EU hosted frontier models with appropriate data classification
• Define and enforce technical guardrails and quality controls for reviewing code submissions, like automated PR checks and quality validation of AI-generated code
• Build competence management prerequisites and onboarding pathways for both internal and partner developers, using modern document- and video-based learning platforms
• Collaborate with R&D, procurement, data governance leads and external IT partners to ensure clear service ownership, vendor compliance and smooth handovers to business units

Qualifications and technical skills:

• Experience building governance and risk management frameworks, compliance processes and developer guidelines in large enterprise environments
• In-depth understanding of modern software development life cycles, AI-assisted development tools (like GitHub Copilot and AI agents) and code quality assurance methods
• Solid familiarity with enterprise cloud environments, data platforms and governance tooling, for example Azure, Databricks and Unity Catalog
• Experience from regulated environments or working with structured compliance frameworks is considered a strong advantage
• Strong communication & coaching skills with an "advisor" mindset, and the ability to manage cross-functional alignment between technical teams, R&D, external vendors and business leaders

Duration: 3-6 months

Location: Some on-site to be expected at the client's premises in Helsinki.

Language: English, Finnish is a plus

Allocation: 80-100%
