AI Architect (Financial SaaS)

A Nordic SaaS company that works with invoice lifecycle management, automated invoicing and payment collection is building AI capabilities into their product, and is looking for an AI Architect to advise them on it.

The work centers on an agentic workflow engine that handles invoice processes end to end: automated invoice handling, pre-collection reminders, exception resolution, and "next best action" advice for the finance folk. The AI layer is planned as a shared, scalable capability on Google Cloud Platform, connected to business services through MuleSoft and MCP. To start with, the role is advisory and part-time.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the architecture & decision-making for bringing agentic AI workflows and reasoning engines into the platform
  • Advise on workflows that combine the existing rule-based automation with LLM-based decision-making
  • Evaluate and plan the AI runtime and data flow architecture, mainly in GCP, with latency, cost, security, multi-cloud readiness and region compliance in mind
  • Help design the interfaces & agent tooling integrations that connect the agentic workflows to business services and internal systems, using API architectures like MuleSoft and MCP
  • Work closely with product management and developers, help with the roadmap, and guide the internal junior/mid-level AI engineers in building production-grade agentic solutions

We're looking for:

  • Experience designing production-grade AI systems, agentic workflows, multi-agent frameworks and RAG in SaaS or enterprise environments
  • Solid cloud experience, especially GCP (Vertex AI, Cloud Run, BigQuery), plus multi-cloud environments
  • Strong background in API architectures, microservices and agent tooling (like MuleSoft, MCP, REST, event-driven systems)
  • Practical understanding of AI evaluation, deterministic guardrails, low-latency reasoning and safe operational decision-making
  • Ability to run architecture workshops, explain the technical vision to business leaders and mentor a developing engineering team
  • Hands-on builder attitude

Prior experience with invoicing systems & understanding of the processes would be an advantage.

Start: asap, late November

Duration: End of 2026 in an advisory role, however likely to grow into a more full-time role later

Location: Occasional workshops in Turku to be expected.

Language: Finnish or English

Allocation: Around 10% during 2026

Sure enough, a smaller case to start with, but could easily go along with another project as well (and grow in allocation in 2027). If it sounds like your thing, let me know at robin.maki@witted.com // robin_witted
