AI Architect

A client within the software industry is investing heavily in AI, both in its own products and across the company, and is looking for an AI Architect to plan & design how AI is used in software development, R&D and sales. They're tool agnostic and use pretty much everything on the market, so breadth across the stack matters more than mastering a single tool.

What you'll do:

  • Research AI tools, models and platforms across the stack and give honest, clear recommendations
  • Talk to stakeholders in R&D, engineering, sales and IT to find where AI actually pays off
  • Design the target AI architecture: models and hosting (cloud vs self-hosted), agents and MCP integrations, data access, security, governance and cost
  • Draw it: architecture diagrams and decision records that people actually read
  • Walk developers through the design and present it to management and non-technical stakeholders
  • Support teams in turning the plan into working pilots

What we're looking for:

  • Senior background in software engineering or architecture, with hands-on AI/LLM work beyond experiments
  • Versatility across tools and vendors over deep expertise in just one
  • Solid grasp of LLM application patterns: RAG, agents, tool use / MCP, evaluation and guardrails
  • Experience with several model providers (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini) and with self-hosted or open models
  • Cloud experience (Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Strong English, equally comfortable at the whiteboard with devs and in front of leadership
  • Self-driven and able to deliver on a part-time allocation

Makes you a very strong candidate (any of these):

  • AI in software development: Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex or similar, and AI in code review, test generation and CI/CD
  • AI in R&D: AI in product development, QA and test automation, ideally in C++ or embedded environments
  • AI in sales: Salesforce (Agentforce, Einstein, Data Cloud), CRM AI and sales enablement

Nice to know:

  • C++, QML and the Qt framework
  • Jira, Gerrit and Git-based review and CI
  • QA and static analysis tools
  • MCP servers and agent skills
