Witted is the Family-Leave-Friendly Workplace of the Year
Witted has received the recognition for being Finland’s number one Family-Leave-Friendly Workplace in 2025. The award is presented by Mothers in Business to a workplace that has exemplarily developed its practices and culture to support expecting parents, those taking family leave, and parents returning to work.

“At Witted, the employer supports those taking family leave in many different ways. Supervisors are ensured to have the skills to interact with employees going on family leave, and longer absences are enabled regardless of whether the parent is the birthing or non-birthing one,” explains Jenny Söderman, an expert at Mothers in Business. “It also speaks volumes about the workplace culture that taking family leave is a normal part of daily work life at the company, right up to the highest management levels.”
Numerous progressive practices demonstrate this family-leave-friendliness. At Witted, work tools, benefits, and occupational health services are available throughout the family leave. Employees on leave are welcome at company events, some of which are also designed for the youngest family members. After returning from leave, part-time work is a common option at the company to balance daily life. In publicly listed companies, family leaves taken by management can be a taboo, but at Witted, members of the senior leadership, including both the founder-CEO and the CFO, have taken family leave.
“Witted is a company where work and family are not pitted against each other. It’s not “either-or”, it is “both-and”. We live out a family-friendly work life throughout our whole organization, and we support our professionals with families regardless of their roles. To us, family-friendliness means flexibility in everyday situations, trust in coordinating work and life, and a genuine understanding that life comes in different phases,” comments Saara Ukkonen, CFO of Witted.
